Toronto FC and BMO aspire to contribute to the advancement of sport management by fostering a future for soccer that is more equitable and accessible. The Women In Soccer Fellowship offers young leaders a comprehensive understanding of our business and the insights necessary to excel as sports business professionals. Launched in 2022, the program incorporates learning and training as integral components of our front office staff. Additionally, it provides various mentorship and networking opportunities throughout the TFC business, with the objective of effectively integrating more women into the Canadian soccer ecosystem.

THE PROBLEM

The representation of women in senior leadership positions across the MLS is disconcertingly low. In MLS, a mere 28% of Vice Presidents are women, and only 13% of club Presidents or CEOs are women..

THE ASK

To cultivate brand loyalty for BMO while promoting increased involvement of women in professional sports careers.

CREATIVE INSIGHT

"If you can see it, you can believe it." Encouraging more women to pursue careers in professional sports begins by showcasing trailblazers who are breaking down barriers and paving the way for others.

THE IDEA

The BMO Fellowship: We introduced a one-year internship initiative aimed at empowering young women interested in sports to acquire hands-on experience in business operations and leadership roles within TFC, MLSE, and BMO. Our inaugural fellow shared her journey of overcoming industry barriers, sparking inspiration among thousands of other young women to pursue similar paths.
